Brief Description
Class of Nuke 'Em High is a 1986 sci-fi horror comedy film produced and distributed by B-movie legends Troma Entertainment. Directed by Richard W. Haines and Lloyd Kaufman (using the pseudonym Samuel Weil), the film is a satirical, over-the-top send-up of 1980s teen movies, nuclear hysteria, and environmental concerns. It has since become a staple cult classic known for its excessive gore, campy humor, and unique practical special effects.
Plot:
The story is set at Tromaville High School, which sits just a stone's throw away from a poorly run nuclear power plant. The school's environment rapidly deteriorates when a radioactive leak contaminates the local water supply and a nearby patch of marijuana. The main plot follows two ordinary, innocent students: The Mutation: After smoking the tainted weed, Warren and Chrissy experience sudden, aggressive personality shifts and temporary memory loss. Warren develops unpredictable violent tendencies. Shortly after, Chrissy undergoes an immediate, bizarre pregnancy and spits out a small monster into a toilet.
The Monster: The creature escapes into the plumbing, feeds on toxic waste, and quickly grows into a giant, slimy mutant that begins terrorizing and eating people in the hallways. The Cretins: Simultaneously, the school's submissive Honor Society students buy contaminated drugs from a plant worker, mutating them into "The Cretins"—a gang of aggressive, punk-styled psychos who take over and run wild across the school. Ultimately, Warren and Chrissy are forced to take matters into their own hands to fight off the rampaging Cretins and kill their grotesque mutant offspring before the entire school is obliterated.
