Brief Description
Silver Bullet (1985) is an American horror film based on the 1983 novella Cycle of the Werewolf by Stephen King. Directed by Daniel Attias, the movie blends classic '80s creature-feature horror with a coming-of-age story. It has since grown into a notable cult classic among horror fans.
Plot:
The story is set during the spring and summer of 1976 in the peaceful, rural town of Tarker's Mills, Maine. The community is suddenly terrorized by a series of brutal, gruesome murders that seem to occur during full moons. While the local townspeople suspect a human serial killer and form dangerous vigilante groups, a young paraplegic boy named Marty Coslaw begins to suspect something far more supernatural: a werewolf. After a terrifying close encounter with the beast, Marty teams up with his older sister Jane and their eccentric, alcoholic Uncle Red.
Armed with Uncle Red’s custom-built motorized wheelchair/motorcycle—nicknamed the "Silver Bullet"—the trio sets out to uncover the werewolf's human identity and stop it once and for all. Silver Bullet balances genuine tension and brutal kills with campy '80s charm and dark humor. Legendary film critic Roger Ebert's Review famously called the movie "bad in its own awesomely tasteless and bubble-brained way," noting that its B-movie eccentricity makes it highly entertaining for horror enthusiasts. It is particularly praised for featuring a disabled hero in a central, empowering role and for the memorable, energetic performance of Gary Busey.
