Brief Description
Galaxy of Terror (1981) is a cult classic science fiction horror film directed by Bruce D. Clark and produced by legendary B-movie mogul Roger Corman. Heavily inspired by the massive success of Alien (1979), the film is widely recognized today for its gory practical effects and for serving as an early career stepping stone for James Cameron, who worked as the movie's production designer and second-unit director.
Plot:
Set in a dystopian future, a mysterious supreme ruler known as "The Master" sends a spaceship crew on a rescue mission to the desolate, fog-shrouded planet of Morganthus to investigate a previous crash. Upon arriving, the crew discovers a massive, ancient, pyramid-shaped alien structure. As they explore the labyrinthine pyramid, they realize that the structure manifests their deepest, most primal psychological fears into physical monsters that begin brutally killing them off one by one. The movie is notoriously remembered in horror community discussions for a highly controversial and graphic scene where a female crew member is assaulted and killed by a giant, slimy alien worm.
