Brief Description  Lifeforce (1985) is a British science fiction horror film directed by Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Poltergeist) and written by Dan O'Bannon (Alien) and Don Jakoby. Based on Colin Wilson’s 1976 novel The Space Vampires, the film is a high-concept, notoriously genre-bending cult classic that blends cosmic sci-fi, detective thriller tropes, Hammer Horror aesthetics, and full-scale apocalyptic disaster.

Plot:
During a joint British-American space shuttle mission to investigate Halley's Comet, the crew of the Churchill discovers a massive, 150-mile-long alien spacecraft hidden in the comet's tail. Inside, they find hundreds of shriveled, bat-like creatures and three naked humanoid bodies (two male, one female) preserved in glass, coffin-like pods. The crew takes the pods aboard, but ground control subsequently loses contact with the shuttle. A rescue mission discovers that the Churchill crew has been mysteriously mummified, though the three alien humanoids remain perfectly intact. Brought back to a research facility in London, the female alien (Mathilda May) awakens and immediately drains the life force out of a security guard, reducing him to a desiccated corpse.

As she escapes into London, she continues to harvest human souls. Her victims don't stay dead; they become infected, predatory zombies that must drain others to survive, sparking an aggressive exponential outbreak. It is up to the Churchill's sole surviving astronaut, Colonel Tom Carlsen (Steve Railsback), who shares a bizarre psychic connection with the alien queen, and SAS Colonel Colin Caine (Peter Firth) to stop the extraterrestrial threat before London descends completely into an apocalyptic wasteland. The film was produced by Cannon Films moguls Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus, who handed Hooper a massive budget.
