Actor(s):  William Katt, George Wendt, Richard Moll, Kay Lenz

Brief Description  House is a 1985 American horror film directed by Steve Miner, with a screenplay by Ethan Wiley, from an original story written by Fred Dekker. Produced by Sean S. Cunningham, the film is the first installment in the House film series. The film centers on Roger Cobb, a troubled author who moves into his late aunt Elizabeth Hooper's seemingly haunted house, and is forced to deal with supernatural phenomena.

Plot:
The story follows Roger Cobb (played by William Katt), a successful horror novelist whose life is spiraling out of control. He is reelingly divorced from his actress wife, traumatized by his past experiences as a soldier in the Vietnam War, and deeply haunted by the mysterious disappearance of his young son, Jimmy. Hoping to find solitary inspiration to write a difficult memoir about his time in Vietnam, Roger moves into a rambling Victorian mansion that he inherited following the sudden suicide of his late aunt. However, the house is not empty.

Roger quickly finds himself under siege by an onslaught of malevolent supernatural forces, grotesque monsters hidden in closets, and vivid PTSD-driven nightmares. As the hauntings escalate, Roger realizes the house is using his own guilt and memories against him. With the help of his nosy but well-meaning neighbor Harold (played by George Wendt), Roger must physically and psychologically battle the undead—most notably Big Ben (played by Richard Moll), his mutated former war buddy who holds a deadly grudge—in order to conquer his past and save his lost son.
