Brief Description  Ghoulies (1985) is an American cult classic horror-comedy film directed by Luca Bercovici in his directorial debut. The film is widely remembered for its campy tone, practical creature effects, and an iconic marketing campaign featuring a monster popping out of a toilet bowl. It also marks the feature film debut of actress Mariska Hargitay.

Plot:
As an infant, Jonathan Graves is nearly sacrificed to Lucifer by his satanic cult-leader father, Malcolm (Michael Des Barres). A cult member and his mother rescue the baby, and Jonathan is raised by Wolfgang (Jack Nance), growing up completely unaware of his dark lineage. Years later, college-aged Jonathan inherits his family's grand estate and moves in with his girlfriend, Rebecca (Lisa Pelikan). While exploring the mansion, Jonathan discovers his father's occult books and paraphernalia. Fascinated, he begins dabbling in demonology and black magic to understand his heritage.

During a party at the house, Jonathan jokingly performs a summoning ritual from one of the spellbooks in the basement dungeon. Unbeknownst to him and his eccentric friends, the ceremony succeeds and unleashes the Ghoulies—small, grotesque, and bloodthirsty demonic creatures. As Jonathan becomes increasingly power-mad and obsessed with the occult, the creatures begin roaming the estate and attacking his friends. The film culminates in a magical showdown involving Jonathan's resurrected father and a battle of supernatural lightning. The film is most famous for its iconic marketing campaign featuring a green, impish creature crawling out of a toilet bowl, a catchy image that sparked immense pop-culture notoriety despite the scene playing out only briefly in the actual movie.
