Actor(s):  Paul Le Mat, Nancy Allen, Diana Scarwid, Michael Lerner

Brief Description  Strange Invaders (1983) is an American science fiction horror film directed and co-written by Michael Laughlin that serves as an affectionate, witty homage to the alien takeover B-movies of the 1950s. The film is well-known among cult-classic fans for its unique practical effects. The aliens can peel off their human "masks" to reveal glowing, small-headed creatures. They also possess abilities like shooting lasers or lightning bolts from their eyes and hands, and reducing human targets into glowing, crying orbs.

Plot:
Twenty-five years later, in the early 1980s, university professor Charles Bigelow (Paul Le Mat) discovers his ex-wife, Margaret (Diana Scarwid), has mysteriously vanished after traveling back to Centerville for a funeral. Charles journeys to the creepy midwestern town to find her and uncovers a shocking truth: the entire population consists of hostile aliens who have remained frozen in a 1950s lifestyle—complete with soda fountains, sock hops, and period-accurate clothing. Teaming up with an intrepid tabloid journalist named Betty Walker (Nancy Allen), Charles must navigate a government cover-up, outrun the extraterrestrials, and save his young daughter from being taken by the departing mothership.
