Brief Description
Time Walker (1982) is a science fiction horror film that uniquely blends ancient Egyptian mythology with alien lore. Directed by Tom Kennedy, it is also widely recognized under its alternative home video title, Being from Another Planet. It is fondly remembered by B-movie fans for its wacky premise, slow-moving rubber-suit alien, and an abrupt "To Be Continued..." ending screen for a sequel that was never produced.
Plot:
The story begins in Egypt, where California University professor Douglas McCadden unearths a hidden chamber inside King Tut’s tomb containing a mysterious sarcophagus. The coffin is shipped back to a California university for academic study. When technicians subject the sarcophagus to high-dose X-rays, they inadvertently trigger two major crises: The Monster Awakens: The X-rays revive a dormant, flesh-eating green fungus covering the body. The Theft: A sneaky student named Peter Sharpe discovers five hidden, diamond-like crystals at the bottom of the casket and steals them, distributing them to various co-eds on campus. The "mummy" awakens and escapes into the college campus. As bodies pile up from the deadly, flesh-melting fungus, Professor McCadden realizes this creature is not a dead Egyptian pharaoh, but a stranded extraterrestrial alien in stasis. The alien is not explicitly malicious; it is simply trying to violently reclaim its stolen crystals, which serve as the power source for its ship to return home.
