Actor(s):  Kurt Russell, A. Wilford Brimley, T. K. Carter, David Clennon

Brief Description  The Thing (1982) is a seminal science fiction horror film directed by John Carpenter, written by Bill Lancaster, and starring Kurt Russell. Set at a remote American research station in Antarctica, the movie follows a team of scientists who encounter a parasitic, shape-shifting extraterrestrial life-form capable of perfectly absorbing and imitating any organism it touches.

Plot:
The story begins when a sled dog from a nearby Norwegian research station is taken in by the American crew. The dog soon violently mutates, revealing itself to be an alien creature. As the researchers realize the entity can perfectly mimic any human down to their genetic code and memories, deep-seated paranoia and isolation shatter the group. Because anyone could secretly be the creature, the survivors struggle with extreme distrust while launching a desperate battle to destroy the alien before it can escape to civilization and consume humanity. The film is universally acclaimed for its groundbreaking, grotesque practical special effects created by Rob Bottin. Iconic body-horror moments—such as the "chest chomp" and the "spider-head" sequence—remain landmarks in horror cinema.
