Plot:
The plot follows Carla Moran (played by Barbara Hershey), a single mother living in Los Angeles who is violently raped and tormented in her home by an invisible, poltergeist-like force. As the terrifying attacks escalate in front of her children and even inside her car, Carla seeks help but faces immense skepticism. Her psychiatrist, Dr. Phil Sneiderman (Ron Silver), rationalizes the trauma as delusions stemming from past childhood abuse. Desperate and disbelieved, Carla eventually turns to a team of open-minded parapsychologists who attempt a dangerous experiment to lure, trap, and capture the spectral assailant. Bither was a real-life woman residing in Culver City, California, who claimed she was repeatedly assaulted by invisible forces in her home. Her claims were heavily documented and investigated by doctoral parapsychology students from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
