Brief Description  Piranha II: The Spawning (1982) is a cult-classic horror creature feature famously known as the official feature directorial debut of James Cameron, who later directed The Terminator, Aliens, Titanic, and Avatar. The film is a sequel to Joe Dante's 1978 movie Piranha and is also known internationally by the alternative title Piranha II: Flying Killers.

Plot:
The story takes place at a Club Elysium resort on a Caribbean island. After a series of bizarre and mysterious deaths involving scuba divers, diving instructor Anne Kimbrough (Tricia O'Neil) and an incognito biochemist named Tyler Sherman (Steve Marachuk) discover a horrifying truth. A genetically modified, mutant strain of piranhas—created by a secret U.S. government experiment—has nested inside a sunken supply ship off the coast. Worst of all, these mutated predators have grown wings and the ability to fly, allowing them to hunt both in the water and in the air.

Despite Anne's desperate warnings, the greedy hotel manager refuses to cancel the resort's annual beachside fish fry, resulting in a chaotic feeding frenzy when the flying killers swarm the shore during their mating ritual. Anne must team up with Tyler and her estranged, police chief ex-husband, Steve Kimbrough (Lance Henriksen), to find a way to blow up the shipwreck and destroy the swarm. Cameron tried to disown the film for years, jokingly referring to The Terminator as his real first film. However, fans note that Piranha II contains early glimpses of his lifelong obsession with deep-sea diving, shipwrecks, and underwater cinematography.
