Brief Description
Curse of the Screaming Dead (originally released in 1982 and also widely known as Curse of the Cannibal Confederates) is a low-budget American independent horror film directed by Tony Malanowski. Distributed by the infamous B-movie studio Troma Entertainment, it is frequently cited by Troma co-founder Lloyd Kaufman as one of the worst movies the company ever distributed.
Plot:
The story follows six friends (three young couples) who venture into the rural woods of Maryland for a weekend deer-hunting and camping trip. After plenty of bickering and heavy beer drinking, they stumble across an abandoned stone church and a forgotten Civil War cemetery. While exploring, one of the campers ignores the warnings of his blind girlfriend and steals an old diary belonging to a Confederate army captain out of a trunk. This act of grave-robbing triggers a curse, causing the rotting, undead corpses of Confederate soldiers to rise from their graves as flesh-eating zombies. The zombified soldiers lay siege to the campsite, disemboweling local police officers and hunting down the campers one by one until the survivors try to return the diary to break the curse.
