Brief Description  Blood Tide (1982)—also known in the U.S. as Bloodtide or Demon Island for television—is a British-American B-movie horror film directed by Richard Jefferies. The film blends elements of creature feature horror and folk horror mythology, taking place against the backdrop of a remote Greek island. The movie has a reputation for being a slow-paced, low-budget cult oddity. While reviewers note that it benefits from a highly overqualified, talented cast—particularly James Earl Jones' surprisingly serious performance—it is often criticized for a sluggish plot, trite dialogue, and an underwhelming monster reveal. It holds a low rating among mainstream critics, though it remains a nostalgic piece for fans of 1980s creature horror.

Plot:
The story follows a young American couple, Neil (Martin Kove) and Barbara (Lydia Cornell), who travel to a secluded island in the Aegean Sea to search for Neil's missing sister, Meline (Deborah Shelton). While exploring, they cross paths with Frye (James Earl Jones), an eccentric, Shakespeare-quoting treasure hunter. Frye uses dynamite to break into a sealed underwater cave, inadvertently shattering a centuries-old barrier that kept an ancient, bloodthirsty sea monster trapped inside. With the monster awakened and lurking in the ocean depths, the islanders panic. Driven by a primal, generational urge, the local villagers realize they must revive a forgotten, ancient ritual to appease the beast: human sacrifice. The monster targets the island's virgins, ultimately sweeping the vacationers and locals alike into a chaotic struggle for survival.
