Brief Description  Frankenstein Unbound (1990) is a post-modern science fiction horror film directed by Roger Corman—marking his return to the director's chair after a nearly 20-year hiatus—and based on Brian W. Aldiss's 1973 novel. Produced on an estimated $11.5 million budget, the movie was shot on location in Italy (including Bergamo, Milan, and Bellagio) and features a futuristic car modeled after the 1988 Italdesign Aztek concept.

Plot:
Set in the year 2031, brilliant physicist Dr. Joe Buchanan (John Hurt) develops an ultimate particle-beam superweapon meant to safely eliminate enemies without ecological destruction. Testing the device produces a catastrophic space-time rift, transporting Buchanan and his advanced, computer-equipped concept car back to 1817 Switzerland. In the past, Buchanan discovers that Dr. Victor Frankenstein (Raul Julia) and his monstrous creation are entirely real, and that the events mirroring Mary Shelley’s novel are actively unfolding.

Buchanan crosses paths with historical literary figures living in the region, including Mary Shelley (Bridget Fonda), Percy Shelley (Michael Hutchence), and Lord Byron (Jason Patric). The Creature demands that Frankenstein build him a mate. As chaos and violence escalate—culminating in the murder of Frankenstein's fiancée—Buchanan must navigate the moral weight of technological creation, attempt to fix the fractured timeline, and ultimately confront the monster in a final, brutal showdown that stretches into an altered future.
