Brief Description
Bride of Re-Animator (1990) is a comedic body-horror film directed by Brian Yuzna and a sequel to the 1985 cult classic Re-Animator. Loosely adapted from H.P. Lovecraft’s serialized story Herbert West–Reanimator, the film follows amoral scientist Dr. Herbert West and his reluctant colleague Dr. Dan Cain as they attempt to literally create new life from assembled dead tissue.
Plot:
Eight months after the gruesome events at Miskatonic University, doctors Herbert West and Dan Cain are working as medics during a civil war in Peru. Continuing their experiments with the glowing green re-agent, they return to Arkham. West convinces the grieving Cain—whose fiancée Meg died in the first film—to help him build a synthetic woman ("The Bride") using various female body parts, centered around Meg’s preserved heart and topped with the head of a deceased patient named Gloria. Complications arise when their arch-nemesis, the reanimated and disembodied head of Dr. Carl Hill, returns to orchestrate a revenge plot using an army of underground zombies, alongside a suspicious police lieutenant investigating the original massacre. Ultimately, the stitched-together creation rejects her makers, ripping out her own heart before the laboratory collapses.
