Brief Description
The Fly II (1989) is an American science fiction horror film directed by special effects artist Chris Walas. Servicing as a direct sequel to David Cronenberg's critically acclaimed 1986 remake of The Fly, this film focuses on Martin Brundle (played by Eric Stoltz), the accelerated-aging son of the original film's tragic scientist Seth Brundle.
Plot:
The film begins at Bartok Industries, where Veronica Quaife dies after giving birth to a slimy larval sac containing her son, Martin. Raised entirely inside the corporation's sterile research facility under the watchful eye of CEO Anton Bartok (Lee Richardson), Martin suffers from a condition known as "Brundle's Accelerated Growth Syndrome". Though he is only five years old chronologically, he possesses a genius intellect and has grown into the physical body of a young man.
Bartok manipulates the innocent and optimistic Martin into continuing his late father's work on the Telepod teleportation technology. During this time, Martin falls in love with a research assistant named Beth Logan (Daphne Zuniga). However, Martin soon discovers that his dormant mutant fly genes are actively triggering a gruesome metamorphosis, and that the company has been using him as a lab rat to exploit his transformation for profit. Realizing his medication was a placebo, Martin seeks a cure using the Telepods—culminating in a desperate and bloody quest for survival and revenge against his corporate captors.
