Brief Description
The Last Shark (originally titled L'ultimo squalo and also released as Great White) is a 1981 Italian horror film directed by Enzo G. Castellari. The movie is infamous for being a blatant "clone" of Steven Spielberg's Jaws, which resulted in it being pulled from American theaters following a plagiarism lawsuit by Universal Pictures.
Plot:
The story takes place in the coastal resort town of Port Harbor, Florida. A massive, ferocious 35-foot Great White Shark begins terrorizing the local waters, targeting windsurfers and tourists right before a major annual windsurfing regatta. The town's ambitious Mayor, William Wells, refuses to cancel the event because he is in the middle of a political campaign for Governor. Though the town installs anti-shark nets, the massive beast effortlessly breaches the perimeter. It falls upon Peter Benton (a prominent author) and Ron Hamer (a rugged, experienced local shark hunter) to take to the sea and kill the predator before it consumes the entire resort population.
