Brief Description
Metamorphosis: The Alien Factor (initially produced in the late 1980s and released in 1990) is an American independent sci-fi horror film written and directed by Glenn Takakjian. Originally conceived as a sequel to the 1983 cult classic The Deadly Spawn, it was developed under the working title The Deadly Spawn II before becoming a standalone feature. Despite its low budget, the movie is widely celebrated by B-movie enthusiasts for its highly ambitious, creative practical effects. It relies heavily on latex creature sculpts, goopy body horror transformations, puppetry, and stop-motion animation.
Plot:
The story takes place at the Talos Corporation, a bio-research laboratory investigating extraterrestrial tissue samples provided by the U.S. government. During an experiment, a careless scientist named Dr. Michael Foster is bitten by an alien-infused test subject. The alien DNA triggers a rapid, horrific cellular rearrangement, causing him to mutate into a massive, predatory monster. When a facility security guard goes missing, his daughters, Kim and Sherry Griffen, sneak into the high-tech lab to investigate. They discover that their father has already been killed and consumed by the growing abomination. Trapped inside during a facility lockdown, the siblings—alongside a few surviving lab staff—must use the lab's experimental particle accelerator and radiation lasers to annihilate the creature before it escapes into the outside world.
