Brief Description
Hellgate (1989) is a supernatural B-horror movie directed by William A. Levey. The plot follows a vengeful father who uses a magical glowing crystal to reanimate his dead daughter, turning her into a seductive trap for unsuspecting travelers. It follows two young couples who become embroiled in the mystery of a desolate ghost town, Hellgate, where a young woman was kidnapped and murdered by a biker gang in 1959. It was released in the United States directly-to-video in August 1990 through Vidmark Entertainment.
Plot:
The backstory begins in the 1950s when a brutal motorcycle gang called "The Strangers" kidnaps a young woman named Josie Carlyle from a local diner. During a rescue attempt by her father, Lucas, Josie is tragically killed, and the gang vanishes. Embittered and broken, Lucas later uncovers a strange, magical crystal in a nearby mine that possesses the power to bring dead objects and corpses back to life. Lucas uses the crystal to resurrect Josie, but the process alters her into an undead, alluring siren. Decades later, Lucas uses his reanimated daughter as bait—posing as the "Hellgate hitchhiker"—to lure young men back to the desolate tourist ghost town of Hellgate, where he brutally murders them. The main story unfolds when four college students (two couples) vacationing nearby hear rumors of the town's dark history and decide to investigate, only to become trapped in a surreal nightmare populated by zombies and ghosts.
