Brief Description  Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989) is an American slasher film written and directed by Rob Hedden, serving as the eighth installment in the iconic horror franchise. The movie is infamous for its misleading premise; due to budget limitations, the majority of the runtime actually takes place aboard a cruise ship rather than in New York City itself.

Plot:
After being accidentally resurrected from his watery grave at the bottom of Crystal Lake, the hockey-masked killer Jason Voorhees (played by Kane Hodder) stows away on the S.S. Lazarus, a cruise ship carrying a class of graduating high school seniors bound for New York City. Jason begins picking off the students and crew one by one, terrorizing the graduating class—including the aquaphobic Rennie Wickham, who suffers from visions of a young Jason drowning. After Jason successfully sinks the vessel, the few remaining survivors manage to escape on a life raft and reach the gritty streets, subways, and sewers of Manhattan. The film culminates in a chaotic, toxic final showdown within the city's sewer system.
