Brief Description  Beasties (1989)—originally completed under the title Bionaut and later distributed on home video in 1991—is a low-budget, independent American sci-fi horror comedy film written, produced, and directed by Steven Paul Contreras. Striking a bizarre mix between 1950s alien invasion tropes and late-1980s camp, the movie has earned a minor cult status among fans of obscure B-movie schlock.

Plot:
The story follows a classic 1980s creature-feature template. An alien spacecraft lands in a small town, releasing a horde of tiny, slimy, reconnaissance creatures (the "Beasties") that attack locals—especially horny teenagers making out in parked cars. A college nerd named Nelson Croft goes on a blind date with a girl named Laura. When the alien creatures begin their violent spree, Nelson and his friends find themselves caught in a series of chaotic situations. Their problems multiply when they cross paths with a gang of psychotic punk rockers led by a bizarre, skull-helmeted high priest named Osirus, who believes sacrificing people to the chaos will fulfill a "ritual of evil". Ultimately, Nelson discovers that the creatures are time-traveling, organic reconnaissance units, and he must find a way to stop the invasion before an intergalactic war breaks out.
