Brief Description  76-EVIL is a 1988 American supernatural horror film directed by actor Robert Englund in his directorial debut,[2] and co-written by Brian Helgeland. It stars Stephen Geoffreys, Patrick O'Bryan, Jim Metzler, Maria Rubell, and Sandy Dennis. The film's title refers to the 976 telephone exchange, a now mostly defunct premium-rate telephone number system that was popular in the late 1980s but has since been superseded by area code 900.

Plot:
It centers on Hoax Wilmoth (Stephen Geoffreys), a socially awkward, bullied teenager living with his fanatically religious and overbearing mother, Lucy (Sandy Dennis). Desperate to stand up to his tormentors and escape his mundane life, Hoax follows his motorcycle "bad boy" cousin Spike (Patrick O'Bryan) in dialing a mysterious premium-rate pay-per-call hotline called "Horrorscope". What begins as a cheesy novelty line offering creepy fortunes quickly reveals itself to be a direct connection to Satan. While Spike loses interest, Hoax becomes deeply addicted, using the sinister, demonic powers granted by the line to exact gruesome, bloody revenge on the school bullies. As his physical body transforms and his soul is systematically consumed by a malevolent force, Spike and a local reporter must team up to halt Hoax's homicidal rampage before he unleashes literal hell on earth.
