Actor(s):  Robert Lansing, Lisa Langlois, Franc Luz, Terri Treas

Brief Description  The Nest (1988) is an American sci-fi horror film centered on a small New England island community that is terrorized by a swarm of genetically engineered, meat-eating killer cockroaches. The crew used over 2,000 real flying cockroaches during filming. Some of the roaches famously escaped into nearby dressing rooms on the studio lot!

Plot:
The story takes place on the fictional North Port Island, where the local mayor has secretly permitted the INTEC Corporation to conduct biological experiments. The scientists create a mutated breed of cockroaches designed to eliminate the island's pest population and then naturally die off after one generation. Instead, the experiment goes horribly wrong. The roaches become completely immune to standard pest control, survive, and rapidly multiply. Worse yet, they undergo a bizarre genetic evolution—developing a fierce craving for flesh and blood, and gaining the horrifying ability to take on the physical traits of whatever (and whoever) they eat. As the town's citizens are hideously butchered one by one, the local sheriff (Franc Luz), his former girlfriend (Lisa Langlois), and an eccentric exterminator must team up with an INTEC scientist (Terri Treas) to destroy the nest before the mutant swarm consumes the entire island.
