Brief Description
The Brain is a 1988 Canadian science fiction horror film directed by Edward Hunt. The story follows a charismatic television psychologist, Dr. Anthony Blake (played by David Gale), who hosts a wildly popular, cult-like self-help program called "Independent Thinking". In reality, Dr. Blake is working alongside a gigantic, man-eating alien brain organism to hypnotize and telepathically brainwash viewers.
Plot:
As the alien entity exerts mind control over the local residents—driving them to extreme paranoia, vivid hallucinations, and violent acts—only a brilliant but rebellious, prank-loving high school student named Jim Majelewski (Tom Bresnahan) proves immune to the brainwashing. When Jim uncovers the institute's sinister plot, Dr. Blake and the creature frame him for a series of local murders. Jim must team up with his girlfriend Janet (Cynthia Preston) to evade the authorities, destroy the creature, and save the town from total submission.
