Brief Description
Slugs (1988), also known as Slugs: The Movie, is a cult-classic natural horror B-movie directed by Spanish filmmaker Juan Piquer Simón. Based on the 1982 pulp novel by Shaun Hutson, the film tells the story of a small, rural American town terrorized by a mutated strain of carnivorous, flesh-eating black slugs.
Plot:
The horror begins when corporate pollution and illicitly dumped toxic waste seep into the local environment, mutating regular slugs into highly aggressive, meat-craving predators with sharp teeth and poisonous slime. As town residents begin dying in increasingly bizarre and gruesome ways, local health inspector Mike Brady (played by Michael Garfield) discovers a pattern of mysterious slime trails. When Mike brings up his theory of killer slugs, the local authorities openly ridicule and dismiss him. Alongside a sanitation worker and a British slug expert, Mike is forced to take matters into his own hands to destroy the mutated gastropods before they overrun the town's sewer system and residential areas.
