Brief Description  The Evil Dead (1981) is a landmark independent supernatural horror film written and directed by Sam Raimi in his feature directorial debut. The plot follows five college students—Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell), his sister Cheryl, his girlfriend Linda, and their friends Scott and Shelly—who vacation at an isolated cabin in the woods.

Plot:
While exploring the property, they discover a mysterious book bound in human skin (the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis) and a tape recorder containing demonic incantations. When they play the tape, they accidentally awaken an ancient Kandarian demon, which begins violently possessing the students one by one. As his friends transform into monstrous "Deadites," Ash is forced to fight for his own survival through an onslaught of graphic gore and body horror to make it to daybreak. This film launched the massive Evil Dead franchise, spanning multiple sequels, a television series, video games, and comic books. Despite its micro-budget, the film became legendary on platforms like Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb for Sam Raimi's creative filmmaking. He utilized a signature "shaky cam" technique to track the invisible demon's chaotic point of view through the trees. Originally titled Book of the Dead, it became a midnight movie phenomenon and a VHS hit after receiving high praise from horror author Stephen King.
