Brief Description  Pumpkinhead is a 1988 American supernatural horror film that marks the directorial debut of legendary, Academy Award-winning special effects master Stan Winston. Inspired by a poem by Ed Justin, the movie is a dark, atmospheric "grim fairy tale" heavily celebrated for its groundbreaking practical monster effects and distinctive Southern Gothic aesthetic.

Plot:
The story follows Ed Harley (played by Lance Henriksen), a kind, devoted, widowed father who runs a small country store in rural Appalachia while raising his young son, Billy. When a group of vacationing city teenagers accidentally strike and kill Billy in a dirt bike accident—and subsequently flee the scene—Ed is consumed by a blinding, desperate grief. Seeking ultimate retribution, Ed tracks down Haggus, a ancient backwoods witch rumored to hold dark, supernatural powers. Though she warns him that revenge carries a devastating toll, Ed insists on moving forward. Following her instructions, he disinters a disfigured corpse from a hidden mountain graveyard.

Through a blood ritual, the corpse is resurrected into Pumpkinhead, a towering, terrifying demon of vengeance. The unstoppable creature begins methodically tracking down and brutally hunting the teenagers one by one. However, Ed soon discovers a horrific catch: he shares a psychic connection with Pumpkinhead. He painfully feels and experiences every murder through the monster's eyes, and he physically begins to mutate, mirroring the creature's grotesque form. Overcome with immediate regret, Ed must find a way to break the curse and stop the murderous rampage before his own soul is completely consumed by the entity.
