Brief Description  The Boogens is a 1981 an American horror film that blends elements of a monster movie and a low-budget slasher film directed by James L. Conway and starring Rebecca Balding, Fred McCarren, Anne-Marie Martin, Jeff Harlan, John Crawford, Med Flory, Jon Lormer, and Scott Wilkinson. The title refers to scaly turtle-like monsters that are released from an abandoned and boarded-up silver mine, and begin to wreak havoc.

Plot:
The story is set in a small, snowy mining town in the Colorado Rockies. Decades after a sudden, mysterious cave-in trapped miners and forced a silver mine to close in the late 1800s, a mining company hires a crew to reopen it. Two young miners, Mark and Roger, along with their girlfriends, Trish and Jessica, rent a remote log cabin near the mine for the duration of the job. Unbeknownst to them, a poorly boarded-up opening in the cabin's basement connects directly to the underground mine tunnels. As the engineers blast and explore the deep uncharted areas of the mine, they inadvertently release "the Boogens"—bloodthirsty, scaly, turtle-like mutant monsters equipped with sharp tentacles and claws. The creatures use the interconnected bootlegging tunnels to venture into the town, starting with the basement of the kids' cabin, brutally picking off the locals and the young adults one by one.
