Brief Description  Dead Heat is a 1988 American buddy cop action horror-comedy film directed by Mark Goldblatt and starring Treat Williams and Joe Piscopo. The movie blends the 1980s mismatched-cop formula with zombie sci-fi elements. Opinions on the film's comedic style vary widely on platforms like Reddit, where some users feel the humor relies too heavily on Joe Piscopo's improvised bits, while others praise its practical special effects and creative horror-comedy blend.

Plot:
LAPD detectives Roger Mortis (Treat Williams) and Doug Bigelow (Joe Piscopo) are investigating a string of violent armed robberies where the criminals seem entirely immune to bullets. Their investigation leads them to a mysterious pharmaceutical corporation called Dante Laboratories. While exploring the facility, they discover a secret "resurrection machine" capable of reanimating the dead. During a confrontation with a reanimated specimen, Roger Mortis is brutally murdered. Desperate to save his partner, Doug uses the machine to bring Roger back to life. Though Roger is successfully resurrected with his mind intact, they learn a horrifying catch: his reanimated body will completely decompose and fail within 24 hours. Now technically a walking corpse, the unstoppable, pain-immune Detective Mortis races against the clock alongside Doug to solve his own murder and dismantle the zombie-fueled crime ring before his time runs out.
