Brief Description  Beetlejuice is a 1988 American fantasy comedy film directed by Tim Burton, starring Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, and Winona Ryder. The iconic cult classic reimagines the afterlife as a bureaucratic nightmare and is highly celebrated for its unique visual style combining live action, stop-motion animation, and puppetry.

Plot:
Barbara and Adam Maitland (Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin), a happy young couple living in a beautiful country home in Winter River, Connecticut, tragically die in a car crash. They return to their beloved house as ghosts, only to find they are stuck haunting it for 125 years and cannot leave. Their peace is shattered when the unbearable Deetz family from New York buys the home and begins completely gutting and redecorating it. The Maitlands attempt to scare the Deetzes away but fail completely, as the living adults cannot see or hear them. The only person who can see the ghosts is the Deetzes' goth, deeply depressed teenage daughter, Lydia (Winona Ryder), who forms a bond with them.

Out of desperation to reclaim their home, the Maitlands ignore the warnings of their afterlife caseworker and recruit Betelgeuse (pronounced Beetlejuice, played by Michael Keaton), a crude, obnoxious, and highly chaotic "bio-exorcist" poltergeist. Beetlejuice's dangerous and vulgar methods quickly spin out of control, threatening the safety of both the living family and the dead couple. When a seance gone wrong begins to actively decay and destroy the Maitlands, Lydia strikes a desperate deal to marry Beetlejuice in exchange for his help, forcing the ghosts to find a way to stop him once and for all.
