Brief Description
Predator (1987) is a seminal American science fiction action-horror film directed by John McTiernan. Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, the movie blends 1980s military machismo with intense creature horror, launching a massive multi-media franchise. The film was originally written under the working title Hunter. While initial filming featured an entirely different, poorly received alien suit played by Jean-Claude Van Damme, the creature was completely reimagined by legendary effects artist Stan Winston (with design input from James Cameron).
Plot:
Major Alan "Dutch" Schaefer (Arnold Schwarzenegger) leads an elite paramilitary rescue team into a dense Central American rainforest. Hired by the CIA to extract hostages held by guerrilla insurgents, the team completes a brutal, successful raid on the rebel camp. However, their mission takes a terrifying turn during the journey to the extraction point. The commandos realize they are being systematically watched, stalked, and killed off one by one by an extraterrestrial warrior. This alien, known as the Predator, possesses highly advanced technology, including active camouflage (invisibility), thermal imaging, and high-tech weaponry. Stripped of his team and modern heavy artillery, Dutch must rely on primal survival instincts and low-tech traps—famously using mud to mask his body heat—to fight the creature in a final, brutal showdown.
