Brief Description  Hellraiser (1987) is a landmark British supernatural body-horror film written and directed by Clive Barker, marking his feature directorial debut. The movie is adapted from Barker's own 1986 novella, The Hellbound Heart. It is celebrated for its dark fantasy themes, groundbreaking practical effects, and for launching a massive horror franchise while introducing the world to the iconic horror villain Pinhead.

Plot:
The story follows a sexual hedonist named Frank Cotton, who purchases a mysterious, puzzle box known as the Lament Configuration. Driven by a desire to experience the ultimate levels of sensory and sexual pleasure, Frank solves the puzzle box in his attic. Instead of pure ecstasy, he opens a gateway to a hellish dimension and summons the Cenobites—a group of extra-dimensional, sadomasochistic beings who cannot differentiate between extreme pain and pleasure. The Cenobites hook and tear Frank's body to shreds, claiming his soul. Sometime later, Frank’s brother, Larry, and Larry's second wife, Julia, move into the abandoned house. Julia happens to be Frank's former lover, having had a passionate affair with him right after marrying Larry.

During the move-in, Larry accidentally cuts his hand, and his blood spills onto the attic floorboards. This accidental sacrifice partially resurrects Frank, leaving him as a grotesque, skinless corpse hidden in the attic. To fully regenerate his human body, Frank needs more blood. He manipulates the still-obsessed Julia into luring unsuspecting men from local bars back to the house, where she kills them so Frank can drain their blood. Things take a terrifying turn when Larry’s daughter, Kirsty, discovers the gruesome secret. After accidentally triggering the puzzle box herself, Kirsty must strike a desperate bargain with the Cenobites: she will guide them to Frank if they agree to spare her and take him back to their underworld realm.
