Brief Description  Evil Dead II (subtitled Dead by Dawn in promotional materials) is a 1987 American comedy horror film directed by Sam Raimi and starring Bruce Campbell. Widely considered a landmark "re-quel," it functions as both a remake and a sequel to the 1981 cult classic The Evil Dead, combining gruesome special effects with manic slapstick humor.

Plot:
The story follows Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) and his girlfriend Linda as they take a vacation at a secluded cabin in the woods. Inside, they discover a tape recording left by an archaeologist that contains recited passages from the Naturon Demonto (the Book of the Dead). Playing the tape unleashes an ancient, malevolent demonic force that possesses Linda. Ash is forced to decapitate his possessed girlfriend, plunging him into a night-long descent into madness as he fights to survive the torment of flesh-possessing demons known as Deadites. Later in the night, Ash is joined at the cabin by the archaeologist's daughter, Annie, and a small group of locals. Trapped by the encroaching woods, Ash must famously amputate his own possessed hand and replace it with a modified chainsaw to make a final, bloody stand against the evil forces.
