Brief Description  Cellar Dweller (1987/1988) is a low-budget American monster horror film directed by John Carl Buechler and written by Don Mancini (creator of the Child's Play/Chucky series) under the pseudonym Kit Du Bois. Produced by Charles Band's Empire Pictures, it premiered direct-to-video in September 1988.

Plot:
In the past, a successful horror comic book artist named Colin Childress (played by Jeffrey Combs) uses an ancient, mystical book resembling the Necronomicon for inspiration, inadvertently drawing a demonic monster into his basement studio and bringing it to life. After a violent rampage, Childress attempts to destroy the beast by setting his drawings on fire, which instead consumes him and his studio in flames. Decades later, Childress's former home is converted into a small art institute and retreat run by the stern Mrs. Briggs (Yvonne De Carlo). A talented young art student and aspiring cartoonist named Whitney Taylor (Debrah Farentino) arrives at the institute and begins working in the sealed cellar that used to be Childress's old workspace. Whitney unknowingly revives the supernatural creature through her own artwork and creative process. The practical-effect demon goes on a bloody killing spree targeting the institute's residents, leaving Whitney as the primary suspect.
