Brief Description
Bad Taste (1987) is a low-budget, science-fiction cult comedy-horror film that marks the feature directorial debut of Oscar-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson. Known for its extreme, campy "splatstick" gore and eccentric Kiwi humor, the film was independently produced over the course of four years on weekends using Jackson's friends and family as the cast and crew.
Plot:
The story takes place in the fictional, isolated New Zealand coastal town of Kaihoro, whose entire population has suddenly vanished. The government dispatches the Astro-Investigation and Defense Service (AIaDS)—a eccentric, four-man paramilitary group consisting of Derek, Barry, Ozzy, and Frank—to investigate. They quickly discover that the town has been overtaken by shape-shifting aliens led by a boss named Lord Crumb. The aliens belong to an intergalactic fast-food corporate franchise called "Crumb's Crunchy Delights". They have invaded Earth with a single, bizarre purpose: to harvest human beings and turn them into meat for their galactic fast-food chain. What follows is an incredibly chaotic, hyper-violent, and cartoonish showdown. The agents launch an all-out assault on the alien headquarters (a large old house) to rescue a captured collection agent and save the world from being turned into burgers.
