Brief Description
Troll (1986) is an American dark fantasy horror-comedy film directed by special effects artist John Carl Buechler and produced by Charles Band of Empire Pictures. The film has achieved significant cult classic status over the decades, largely due to its eccentric 1980s B-movie charm, ambitious practical creature effects, and a bizarrely coincidental connection to modern pop culture: the main character is a young boy named Harry Potter.
Plot:
The story follows the Potter family—Harry Sr., Anne, teenage Harry Jr., and young Wendy—as they move into a new apartment complex in San Francisco. Shortly after arriving, Wendy is cornered in the basement by Torok, an ancient wizard who was transformed into a troll centuries ago. Torok uses a magical emerald ring to take over Wendy's body and hide his true identity. While her parents don't suspect anything, Harry Jr. immediately notices his sister’s aggressive, bizarre behavior. Using Wendy’s form, Torok begins invading the other apartments one by one, pricking the eccentric tenants and transforming them and their rooms into mythical creatures and plant pods. His goal is to reshape the entire apartment complex into a magical fairy-tale kingdom to unleash his world upon ours. Desperate for help, Harry Jr. teams up with a kindly neighbor named Eunice St. Clair. Eunice reveals that she is actually a good witch—and Torok's former lover from their magical past. Together, Harry Jr. and Eunice must navigate the apartment building's spreading magical forest, save Wendy, and stop Torok before his mystical transformation is complete.
