Brief Description
Spookies (1986) is an American independent cult classic horror film renowned for its chaotic production history, impressive practical creature effects, and bizarrely disjointed storyline. Originally filmed as Twisted Souls by directors Brendan Faulkner and Thomas Doran, legal and financial disputes caused the financiers to seize the footage.
Plot:
The film follows Kreon, an ancient sorcerer living in a dilapidated mansion. For over 70 years, he has kept his deceased bride, Isabelle, preserved in a coffin. To fully restore her to life, he requires a continuous harvest of human vitality and sacrifices. When a stray 13-year-old runaway and a mismatched group of partying adults wander onto the estate, Kreon traps them inside. Using a supernatural Ouija board, he unleashes a relentless onslaught of grotesque monsters to hunt the intruders down one by one. Despite its logic flaws, its unhinged pacing and creative effects have made it a beloved staple of late-night B-movie cinema.
