Brief Description
Mutilations (1986) is a low-budget, independent sci-fi horror film written and directed by Larry Thomas. Shot on a micro-budget in Tulsa, Oklahoma, it has earned a reputation as an '80s cult classic celebrated by fans of cheesy B-movies for its "so bad it's good" charm and DIY stop-motion special effects.
Plot:
The story follows a good-natured college professor, Jim McFarland, who has a strong fascination with the paranormal. After noticing a bizarre string of cattle mutilations tormenting a small southern community, he takes his science students on a field trip to rural Oklahoma to investigate. Their investigation leads them to a remote farmhouse owned by Oliver Matson, an eccentric hermit and true believer who rants at length about surviving past alien encounters. The students are initially skeptical—until a flying saucer literally crashes into the farmhouse. Trapped in the middle of nowhere, the group is forced to fight for their lives as aggressive, insectoid alien monsters pick them off one by one to feed on them and mutilate them. The final showdown sends the survivors fleeing into the mine tunnels hidden underneath the farmhouse.
