Brief Description  Invaders from Mars (1986) is an American science fiction horror film directed by horror icon Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Poltergeist). Written by Dan O'Bannon and Don Jakoby, the movie is a campy, stylized, and effects-heavy remake of the classic 1953 sci-fi film of the same name. It transforms a traditional alien invasion narrative into a surreal, paranoid childhood nightmare.

Plot:
The story centers on David Gardner (Hunter Carson), a 12-year-old boy and passionate stargazer. One night, David witnesses a glowing alien spacecraft touch down and bury itself behind the hills near his suburban backyard. When his NASA-employee father (Timothy Bottoms) goes to investigate, he returns the next morning acting cold, robotic, and distinctly unusual—bearing a mysterious, bandaged incision on the back of his neck.

David quickly realizes that the local townspeople, police officers, and even his least-favorite schoolteachers are being abducted and systematically brainwashed into mind-controlled, zombie-like drones by the subterranean Martian invaders. Trapped in a nightmare where he can no longer trust his own parents or authority figures, David pairs up with the sympathetic school nurse, Linda Magnusson (Karen Black), to escape the town and convince the U.S. Marines to launch a full-scale military counter-attack.
