Brief Description
Halloween II (1981) is an American slasher film directed by Rick Rosenthal in his directorial debut, and written and produced by John Carpenter and Debra Hill. It is the second installment in the Halloween franchise and serves as a direct sequel to the 1978 horror classic Halloween. While it retains Carpenter's signature first-person camera perspectives and haunting musical motifs, Halloween II adapts to the evolving 1980s slasher boom by featuring significantly more graphic violence and gore than the highly restrained original film.
Plot:
The story picks up immediately after the cliffhanger ending of the original film on the same night of October 31, 1978. After surviving Michael Myers' initial attack and being shot six times by Dr. Sam Loomis, a wounded Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) is rushed to the Haddonfield Memorial Hospital. Meanwhile, the seemingly indestructible Michael Myers (Dick Warlock) tracks Laurie to the poorly staffed, dimly lit medical facility. As Michael brutally cuts, stabs, and slashes his way through the hospital employees to finish what he started, Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasence) continues his desperate hunt across town to stop his former patient. The film also famously introduces the franchise-altering plot twist that Laurie Strode is actually Michael Myers' biological younger sister.
