Brief Description  The Haunting of Julia (originally titled Full Circle) is a 1977 supernatural psychological horror film directed by Richard Loncraine. Based on the 1976 novel Julia by Peter Straub, the film is widely regarded as an atmospheric, slow-burning gothic thriller that deals heavily with themes of grief, trauma, and maternal guilt.

Plot:
The story follows Julia Lofting (played by Mia Farrow), an independently wealthy woman living in London. Her life shatters when her young daughter, Kate, begins choking at the breakfast table. In a desperate, panicked attempt to save her, Julia performs an amateur tracheotomy that inadvertently causes the little girl's death. Devastated by the tragedy and suffering from a severe nervous breakdown, Julia spends time recovering in a sanitarium. Upon her release, she decides to completely break away from her previous life and her domineering, overbearing husband, Magnus (Keir Dullea). Using her own funds, she purchases a large, gloomy old house in the Kensington neighborhood of London to live alone and try to heal. Instead of finding peace, Julia's fragile mental state worsens when she begins experiencing inexplicable phenomena and terrifying visions of a young, blonde-haired girl roaming the house.

Initially, she desperately wonders if the spirit is the ghost of her deceased daughter. However, after a localized séance intensifies the paranormal activity, Julia uncovers a darker reality. Through old photographs and local investigation, she learns that her new home was once occupied by a malicious child named Olivia Rudge, who died decades earlier. Olivia was not an innocent soul; she was a neighborhood bully who cruelly tortured animals and was responsible for the death of a young boy. As Julia tries to track down people who knew Olivia to piece together the truth, everyone she interviews begins dying in a string of gruesome, bizarre "accidents". The film masterfully blurs the line between a genuine supernatural haunting and a psychological manifestation of Julia’s profound guilt and psychosis.
