Brief Description  Rabid is a 1977 independent body horror film written and directed by David Cronenberg, starring adult-film actress Marilyn Chambers and Frank Moore. It is widely recognized as a seminal early work in Cronenberg's signature "body horror" subgenre, exploring the terrifying intersection of medical science, sex, and physical mutation.

Plot:
The film follows Rose (Marilyn Chambers), a young woman who is critically injured and burned in a motorcycle accident in the Quebec countryside. She is rushed to the nearby Keloid Clinic, a specialized medical center where she undergoes emergency, experimental plastic surgery to save her life. While the radical procedure successfully grafts new tissue onto her chest and abdomen, it triggers a grotesque mutation. Rose wakes from her coma to discover that she has developed a bizarre, phallic stinger hidden within a new orifice under her armpit. Compelled by an uncontrollable, vampiric thirst for human blood, she uses this phallic appendage to feed on unsuspecting victims. Unbeknownst to Rose, her stinger transmits a highly contagious, rabies-like virus.

Anyone she feeds upon quickly transforms into a crazed, blood-thirsty, zombie-like creature. As her victims attack others, the infection spreads exponentially. The virus quickly leaks out of the countryside and engulfs the city of Montreal, plunging the urban center into massive chaos, civil unrest, and strict martial law. Made on a low budget and executive produced by Ivan Reitman (who went on to direct Ghostbusters), it became one of the highest-grossing Canadian films of its era, making over $7 million internationally.
