Brief Description  Track of the Moon Beast is a 1976 low-budget horror film about a mineralogist who transforms into a vicious, reptilian monster after being struck by a lunar meteorite fragment. Directed by Richard Ashe and written by Bill Finger (famous as the co-creator of Batman) and Charles Sinclair, the film was shot in 1972 on a $300,000 budget in Albuquerque, New Mexico, but was not released until it aired on television in 1976.

Plot:
The story follows Paul Carlson (Chase Cordell), a mineralogist student in Albuquerque. While observing a meteor shower with his photographer girlfriend, Kathy Nolan (Donna Leigh Drake), an asteroid collides with the moon, sending a shower of lunar debris toward Earth. A tiny fragment of the meteorite embeds itself in Paul’s head. While the injury initially seems minor, the lunar rock lodged in his brain reacts whenever the moon rises. The radiation drives a terrifying mutation, transforming Paul into a bloodthirsty, lizard-like "Moon Beast". In his monster form, he loses his humanity and goes on a random killing spree through the desert.

During the daytime, Paul returns to normal but suffers from severe dizziness, memory gaps, and nausea. His condition alarms Kathy and his close friend, anthropology professor Johnny "Longbow" Salinas (Gregorio Sala). As local police investigate the brutal murders, Johnny and a team of doctors race against time to figure out what is wrong with Paul before the rock completely consumes his mind. The film gained widespread modern notoriety when it was featured and mocked in a 1999 episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (Season 10, Episode 7). The movie is infamous among B-movie fans for a scene where Professor Johnny Longbow lists off the extensive, mundane ingredients of his homemade stew (including chicken, peppers, onions, and "chili peppers")—a sequence heavily riffed on MST3K.
