Brief Description  Burnt Offerings (1976) is a supernatural psychological horror film directed by Dan Curtis, about a family whose summer rental home slowly comes alive and feeds on their life force.

Plot:
Ben and Marian Rolf, their 12-year-old son Davey, and Ben's Aunt Elizabeth rent a grand country mansion for the summer from quirky siblings Roz and Arnold Allardyce. The rent is suspiciously cheap ($900 for the whole summer), and the only rule is that the family must leave food outside the locked upstairs bedroom for the owners' elderly, reclusive mother. Marian becomes obsessively attached to keeping the house clean and ignores everyone else, while Ben grows increasingly prone to violent rages and terrifying visions. Aunt Elizabeth falls ill, grows weak, and dies. Davey narrowly escapes a deadly accident in the swimming pool orchestrated by the sentient house. The house regenerates and heals itself by feeding on the pain and suffering of its occupants. Marian completely surrenders to the house and transforms into the new caretaker/mother figure, while Ben ultimately falls from the roof to his death, leaving the house waiting for a new family.
