Brief Description  The Devil's Rain (1975) is an American independent supernatural horror film famous for its star-studded cast, a notorious flesh-melting climax, and real-life occult ties. Directed by Robert Fuest, the movie is a quintessential piece of 1970s Satanic panic cinema that has earned a prominent cult following.

Plot:
The story opens on a stormy night at the Preston family home. Patriarch Steve Preston has gone missing. He suddenly reappears at the door, completely devoid of eyes and speaking in a trance. Before collapsing, he warns his wife Emma (Ida Lupino) and son Mark (William Shatner) that they must give "the book" back to a man named Corbis. Shortly after, Steve melts away into a puddle of slime in the pouring rain. A violent psychic wind then breaches the house and abducts Emma. Mark takes the family heirloom—an ancient, 300-year-old book of blood contracts—and travels to a ghost town in the American Southwest where the cult operates. He confronts Jonathan Corbis (Ernest Borgnine), a 17th-century Puritan-era warlock who has survived across centuries.

Through a flashback, it is revealed that 300 years ago, a Preston ancestor betrayed Corbis, stole the coven's ledger of soul signatures, and burned Corbis at the stake. Corbis needs the book to deliver the trapped souls to Satan and complete his eternal dominion. Mark challenges Corbis to a psychic battle of faith but is easily overpowered, captured, and subjected to a terrifying ritual. Mark’s brother, Tom Preston (Tom Skerritt), and his wife Julie arrive at the ghost town to find them. Tom teams up with Dr. Sam Richards (Eddie Albert), a researcher tracking local occult activities. They infiltrate the church only to witness a horrific sight: Mark has been converted into an eyeless, hooded acolyte serving Corbis.

The cult members lack eyes because their souls are stored elsewhere, leaving them empty vessels. Corbis himself transforms into a grotesque, horned goat-demon during the rituals. The climax takes place inside the coven's cavernous sanctuary, where the souls of the damned are literally trapped inside a large, glowing glass vessel known as the "The Devil's Rain." Tom manages to breach the altar, seize the ancient book, and smash the glass vessel containing the souls. Breaking the vessel triggers an immediate apocalyptic curse upon the cult. A massive, unnatural storm breaks out inside and outside the church. Because their souls are destroyed, the cult members violently melt whenever they are touched by the falling rain.
