Brief Description  Legend of the Werewolf (1975) is a British Gothic horror film directed by Freddie Francis and produced by Tyburn Film Productions, a short-lived studio that attempted to fill the cinematic void left by Hammer Film Productions. Written by Anthony Hinds (using his frequent pseudonym John Elder), the movie is an uncredited adaptation of Guy Endore’s famous 1933 novel, The Werewolf of Paris.

Plot:
In 19th-century Europe, a pair of refugees flee persecution. On Christmas Eve, at the stroke of midnight, the mother dies during childbirth, and a pack of wolves subsequently kills the father. Instead of eating the newborn boy, the wolves adopt him and raise him as part of their pack. As an adult, Etoile's dormant, bestial curse activates during a full moon. He transforms into a werewolf, brutally murders a circus performer named Tiny, and flees the carnival into Paris to escape justice. In Paris, Etoile manages to suppress his lupine side and finds normal employment cleaning cages at a local, rundown zoo. While there, he falls deeply in love with a young woman named Christine.

Etoile's heart breaks when he discovers Christine is actually a prostitute working at a nearby brothel. Blinded by jealousy and overprotective rage, his inner beast takes control during the next full moon. He begins tracking and systematically slaughtering Christine’s upper-class clients as they leave the brothel. Professor Paul Cataflanque, a brilliant police forensic pathologist, is brought in to examine the bizarre, mutilated corpses. Using deductive reasoning, he determines that a wolf—or something closely resembling one—is responsible. Professor Cataflanque's investigation leads him to the local zoo where Etoile works. As the authorities close in, a final confrontation unfolds in the dark sewers of Paris, forcing a tragic end to Etoile's cursed existence.
