Actor(s):  Olivia Hussey, Keir Dullea, Margot Kidder, John Saxon

Brief Description  Black Christmas (1974) is a seminal Canadian independent horror film directed by Bob Clark that serves as a foundational blueprint for the slasher genre. Inspired by the urban legend of "The Babysitter and the Man Upstairs" and real-life Montreal murders, the movie chronicles a group of sorority sisters targeted by a deranged, unseen killer hiding in their attic during Christmas break. It is highly celebrated for its atmosphere, its pioneering use of first-person point-of-view camera angles, and its progressive narrative structure featuring themes of female agency and abortion.

Plot:
During a Christmas party at the Pi Kappa Sigma sorority house, the girls receive a disturbing, obscene phone call from a screaming stranger who uses multiple voices and calls himself "Billy". While the heavy-drinking Barb eggs him on, the caller turns aggressively violent and threatening. Sorority sister Clare Harrison goes upstairs to pack. She is lured into a closet by the killer—who mimics her missing cat—and is suffocated with a plastic dry-cleaning bag. The killer moves her body to a rocking chair in the attic, placing a doll in her lap. Clare's concerned father arrives looking for her. When a local young girl is found murdered in a park nearby, the local police, led by Lieutenant Ken Fuller, reluctantly take the disappearance seriously.

Simultaneously, the film follows the protagonist, Jess Bradford. She reveals to her volatile, aspiring-pianist boyfriend, Peter Smythe, that she is pregnant and plans to get an abortion. Peter reacts with extreme rage and erratic, aggressive behavior, positioning himself as a prime suspect to both Jess and the police. The house mother, Mrs. MacHenry, discovers Clare's body in the attic but is promptly murdered with a meat hook. Barb is later stabbed to death in her bed with a ceramic unicorn figurine while a group of carolers sing outside, drowning out her screams. Phyl is murdered shortly after discovering Barb's body. After wiretapping the sorority house phone line, the police intercept another manic call from Billy. The technician frantically relays the terrifying realization to Lieutenant Fuller: the calls are coming from inside the house.
