Brief Description  Lust for a Vampire (1971)—also known as Love for a Vampire or To Love a Vampire—is a British Gothic horror film produced by Hammer Film Productions. Directed by Jimmy Sangster and written by Tudor Gates, it serves as the second entry in Hammer’s Karnstein Trilogy, sandwiched between The Vampire Lovers (1970) and Twins of Evil (1971). The movie is famous for blending traditional Gothic tropes with the era's emerging permissiveness, explicitly leaning into erotic lesbian vampire themes and an all-girls boarding school setting.

Plot:
The story is set in Styria in 1830, precisely 40 years after the Karnstein family's last reign of vampiric terror. The surviving Karnstein heirs perform a dark ritual, using the blood of an innocent young woman to resurrect their beautiful ancestor, Mircalla Karnstein (who went by Carmilla in 1710). To give her access to fresh victims, Mircalla is enrolled as a student under the guise of an orphan at a prestigious, isolated girls' finishing school located near the ruins of Karnstein Castle. Mircalla quickly turns the school into her personal hunting ground. She preys on her fellow female students, resulting in a string of mysterious, debilitating illnesses and deaths.

Meanwhile, she uses her supernatural charms to manipulate Giles Barton, a schoolteacher obsessed with the occult who is eager to become her disciple. Richard Lestrange, a rogue English author, sneaks into the school by posing as a language teacher to get closer to the girls. He falls deeply in love with Mircalla, entirely blind to her lethal, vampiric nature. As the body count rises, local authorities and terrified villagers realize the Karnstein curse has returned. While Richard desperately tries to protect Mircalla from the town's wrath, a furious mob marches on the castle to end the vampire threat once and for all.
