Brief Description  Return of the Blind Dead (1973), originally titled El ataque de los muertos sin ojos (and released in some markets as The Return of the Evil Dead), is a Spanish horror film written and directed by Amando de Ossorio. It is the second installment in the iconic four-film Blind Dead franchise. Shifting from the slow, atmospheric dread of the 1972 original, this sequel plays out like an action-packed siege movie, often compared to an undead version of John Carpenter's The Fog or a 1970s disaster film.

Plot:
The film opens with a 13th-century flashback in Bouzano, Portugal. The local villagers capture a rogue faction of the Knights Templar, who have been practicing Satanic rituals, drinking the blood of virgins, and sacrificing women. As the villagers prepare to burn them at the stake, the lead Templar curses the town, vowing vengeance from beyond the grave. To prevent the undead knights from finding their way back, the panicked townsfolk burn out the Templars' eyes with red-hot brands before setting them on fire. Because of this, when the knights rise as skeletal corpses, they are entirely blind and must hunt exclusively by sound.

The narrative jumps 500 years into the present day. The modern village of Bouzano is preparing for its quincentennial festival to celebrate the historic defeat of the Templars. Murdo, a local outcast and "village idiot," believes he can control the ancient entities. He kidnaps a young girl and murders her at the Templar ruins as a blood sacrifice, successfully triggering the resurrection of the blind knights. Meanwhile, a corrupt, mob-boss-style mayor named Duncan is running the town's festivities. He hires an American pyrotechnician, Jack Marlowe, to run the fireworks display. Drama erupts because Jack is the ex-boyfriend of Vivienne, the mayor's secretary and reluctant fiancée.

Armed with swords and riding undead, slow-motion horses, the skeletal Templars descend upon the festival, massacring the celebrating villagers. A small group of survivors—including Jack, Vivienne, the tyrannical Mayor Duncan, a local man named Howard, and a young child—barricade themselves inside the village church. Inside the church, human nature unravels. The mayor tries to sacrifice others to save himself but is eventually thrown out to the monsters. In a dark turn, Howard loses his mind and attempts to assault Vivienne, leading to a fight with Jack where Howard is accidentally impaled and killed.
