Brief Description  Frogs (1972) is a classic American eco-horror B-movie directed by George McCowan. Distributed by American International Pictures (AIP), the film rides the 1970s wave of "nature's revenge" cinema, serving as a dark cautionary tale about environmental destruction. Despite its literal title and a famous marketing poster depicting a giant frog swallowing a human hand, the frogs in the movie are completely normal-sized and rarely do any actual killing. Instead, they act as an omnipresent, silent "militant force" orchestrating an uprising of snakes, alligators, spiders, and leeches against a wealthy family poisoning their swamp.

Plot:
The story unfolds over the Fourth of July weekend on a private island estate in the Florida Everglades. Pickett Smith (Sam Elliott), an ecologically minded freelance photographer, is canoeing through the swamp to document local industrial pollution. He is accidentally capsized by a speedboat driven by Clint (Adam Roarke) and Karen Crockett (Joan Van Ark). To apologize, they invite him back to their massive family mansion. Pickett meets the tyrannical, wheelchair-bound family patriarch, Jason Crockett (Ray Milland), an arrogant millionaire celebrating his birthday. Crockett despises nature and routinely relies on heavy doses of toxic pesticides to clear the island of what he considers "pests"—particularly the loudly croaking frogs.

Pickett quickly notices the local wildlife behaving with eerie, coordinated aggression. One by one, family members and estate workers venture into the grounds and are picked off by an array of swamp creatures while groups of frogs look on menacingly like silent generals: A groundskeeper is bitten to death by a water moccasin. Michael is trapped in a greenhouse by tarantulas, knocks over toxic chemicals, and asphyxiates. Iris is chased by small alligators into a swamp, where she is repeatedly bitten by venomous snakes and covered in leeches. Clint's boat goes adrift; when he swims out to retrieve it, he is killed by a water moccasin, and his wife Jenny is subsequently killed by an alligator snapping turtle while trying to save him.

Realizing the phone lines are cut and the island is fully under siege, Pickett gathers Karen and Clint’s young children to escape via canoe. Jason Crockett stubbornly refuses to leave his empire. Pickett successfully battles through an alligator and water snakes to get the survivors safely to the mainland. Trapped alone inside his dark mansion with his dog, Jason watches helplessly as hundreds of frogs smash through the glass windows and swarm the room. Overwhelmed by terror and the psychological weight of nature's judgment, he suffers a fatal heart attack. The lights go out, leaving the frogs victorious.
